Model Boating Club

This is a small model boat club based on the lovely Springbok Estate near Cranleigh in Surrey close to Dunsfold Aerodrome.

It is a sociable gathering of mainly retired people who share an interest in model boats of all types including radio controlled model yachts.

We meet on Friday mornings at the lake on the “Care Ashore” Seamenʼs Retirement Home on the Springbok Estate. In addition we also have use of the lake, bar facilities (when open) and toilets 7 days a week. Free parking is close by.

Springbok Model Bo0t Club (SMBC)

Normally we sail our models for about 3 hours before adjourning to the bar for refreshment.

A number of events are held in the region each year which are open to the public, including the Alfold Show in June where we have a stand.

The club is open to new members where the cost is only £30 per annum annually.

Members are very friendly and will offer every assistance to those starting out or who simply wish to try out a boat. Informal yacht racing is also arranged occasionally.

Anyone interested in joining can simply come along and introduce themselves any Friday morning.

In the unlikely event of the pond being deserted due to heavy rain, for example, you will probably find a small group of us in a corner of the bar or on the terrace outside. Springbok is a lovely location and worth attending for a tranquil morning if for no other reason.
